Worship

What does it mean to worship?

The essence of true worship is captured in Psalm 29:1–2:

Ascribe to the LORD, O heavenly beings,
ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name;
worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness (ESV).

To ascribe means to give credit to someone or to recognize a characteristic that belongs to him (in this case the characteristics of glory and strength that belong to the Lord).  That is what worship is all about.  The root meaning of the word ‘worship’ comes from the idea of “worth-ship”—that is, recognizing someone’s worth, and then granting him honor according to that worth.  So to worship God means that we recognize His supreme value, we affirm His worthiness, we honor Him by ascribing greatness and glory and power to Him.

Therefore, worship through music at Grace is an activity in which we join our hearts and voices together to praise and glorify the King of Heaven.  Our goal is that everyone who comes in to worship with us will be a participant rather than a spectator; that instead of an ensemble of a few musicians performing to an audience of hundreds for their entertainment, we are an ensemble of hundreds performing to an audience of One for His rightful glory!

If you would like to be part of our worship ministry team, please contact the Grace Church office at 970.330.1340.

We would be happy to set up an audition for interested vocalists and instrumentalists, or offer training to those interested in audio-visual support.

“Worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness!”
