The Need

As we enter a new year and another decade, we find an opportunity to remind ourselves of what’s truly important and essential in life.  We return to matters of biblical foundation—like the grace of God in the gospel, the nature of Christian faith, and the eternality of divine truth—we examine our lives in light of what lasts forever, and we ask some fundamental questions.  Why do we believe what we believe, and live the way we live?  Are we setting our minds on earthly or heavenly things?  Are we following the course we charted, to aim for godly ends, to fulfill good and godly ambitions?

One helpful exercise in self-examination is to imagine yourself looking back from a future perspective, reflecting on your life from the vantage point of your golden years.  What will your old self say about your young self?  What will that older, wiser perspective reveal?  No doubt there will be many memories that bring you a profound sense of joy and satisfaction in your old age.  Other thoughts may bring a sense of sorrow, sad feelings of regret about how you spent limited amounts of time and energy.

Moses wrote, “Teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.”  That’s an important aspect of biblical wisdom, to number our days and consider our ways, to think about the consequences of our way of life.  If you are younger, by considering such things now, you still have time to make course corrections, or perhaps to make some trim adjustments.  For you who are older, living in your golden years, this is the time to think about finishing well, glorifying God with the rest of your life before you step into His presence.

To those ends, we’d like to invite you to join us—from Friday, January 31, through Sunday, February 2—for a conference we’re calling, Seek the Lord!.  Pastor and Bible teacher, Don Green, will help us revisit our Christian convictions, clarify and sharpen our resolution, and deepen and strengthen our biblical motivation for seeking the Lord above all else.  In ways that are comprehensive and philosophical, as well as immediate and practical, we’ll consider what it means to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.

The conference is free, but we’re asking you to register so we can prepare to host you.  (Click here to sign up now.)

If you have any questions, you can write or call us at the Grace Church office (office@gracegreeley.org; 970-330-1340).
